Penn Tops Preseason Poll


WEST CHESTER, PENNSYLVANIA (Dec. 11, 2024) — The Gymnastics East Conference announced the results of the 2024 preseason poll on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024 in anticipation of the 2025 season. For the fourth year in a row, the University of Pennsylvania Quakers claim the top spot in the poll, securing six out of eight possible first place votes for a total of 62 points. Entering the 2025 season with a 2024 NQS of 195.645, the three-time reigning GEC Champions look for another strong season in 2025. The Quakers are coached by Kirsten Becker, and she is assisted by Casey Zacot. Coming in just behind Penn, Yale captures the remaining two first place votes with a total 56 points. 


The preseason poll is based on ranking projections given by the head coaches of the eight GEC schools. 


The 2025 preseason rankings are as follows:


  1. Penn (62 points, 6 first place votes)


  1. Yale (56points, 2 first place votes)


  1. West Chester (39 points)


  1. Brown (38 points)


  1. Cornell (36 points)


  1. Bridgeport (24 points)


  1. William & Mary (23 points)


  1. Southern Connecticut (10 points)


Penn opens their 2025 season at PSU on Sunday, January 5th. Yale, Cornell, and Bridgeport kick off their season on Sunday, January 12th at Cornell. West Chester competes first on Saturday, January 11th at Rutgers. Brown travels to Iowa state for their first meet on Friday, January 10th. William & Mary will be at Fisk on Monday, January 13th. SCSU opens their season at home on Saturday, January 18th.
