GEC Week 8 Awards
CO-NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK - HANNA ZEBDI (Ashburn, VA), a Freshman from Southern Connecticut, was voted GEC Newcomer of the Week on March 1st, 2022. Zebdi posted a personal best on the floor this past weekend with a 9.825, finishing 2nd in the meet. She also placed 3rd on vault with a 9.625 and 4th with a 9.65 in her first time competing on the balance beam.
CO-NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK - KRISTEN KUHN (San Mateo, CA), a Sophomore from Penn, was voted GEC Newcomer of the Week on March 1st, 2022. Kuhn earned a career high 9.9, sharing the Ivy Classic title on bars. Her score to led the bar team to a season-high 49.0 and tied the 3rd best individual bar score in program history.
CO-NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK - SHERRY WANG (Austin, TX), a Sophomore from Yale, was voted GEC Newcomer of the Week on March 1st, 2022. Wang earned a career high 9.775 on the vault at the Ivy Classic with a beautiful stuck Yurchenko layout full. She also tied her career high 9.825 on the floor for the fourth time this season. She had a clutch performance on the first event, getting the Bulldogs back on track following a fall with an impressive 9.825.
PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK - MEI LI COSTA (Lawrenceville, NJ), a Senior from Brown was voted GEC Performance of the Week on March 1st, 2022. Costa defended her Ivy Bar Title, winning back-to-back championships on the uneven bars! She earned Brown︎s second-highest score in school history with a 9.9 to win the Ivy Title. Mei Li also earned 2nd place on vault with a 9.8 and earned 1st Team All-Ivy. Mei also led the Bears to win vault as a team and earn season high team scores on both vault and bars.
︎︎︎︎GYMNAST OF THE WEEK - LINDSAY CHIA (Coquotlam, B.C., Canada), a Senior from Yale, was voted GEC Gymnast of the Week on March 1st, 2022 for the second week in a row. ︎︎Chia had another outstanding performance this weekend and helped the Bulldogs chinch the Ivy title. She anchored the vault lineup, sticking her Yurchenko layout full to win the event and the meet. Lindsay posted a career high all-around score with a 39.15 and a career high on floor with a 9.875. She won three 1st place awards and one 2nd place finish.
