NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK - LINDSEY YANG (Hillsborough, CA), a First Year from Brown University was voted GEC Newcomer of the week on February 20th, 2024. At a quad met at LIU, Yang hit a huge career-high 9.85 on beam, finishing runner-up and surpassing her previous personal best of 9.7 from one week earlier. In her collegiate floor debut, Lindsey matched her beam score, bringing the Bears another impressive 9.85.
SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK - LEXI BRACHER (Oakton, VA), a junior from Southern Connecticut State University was voted GEC Specialist of the Week on February 20th, 2024. At a quad meet at Temple, Lexi Bracher performed an outstanding vault, scoring a career-best score of 9.875. Her efforts earned her a first place finish and helped the Owls set a new school vault record.
GYMNAST OF THE WEEK - SYDNEY BEERS (Bellmore, NY), a Junior from Cornell University was voted GEC Gymnast of the Week on February 20th, 2024. Beers continues to be one of the Big Red’s most consistent competitors. This week, Beers tied the program vault record with a near perfect 9.9, earning her 1st place in the meet. Sydney’s other stand out event is floor, where she scored a huge 9.925 to tie for another 1st place finish.
