NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK - TAYLOR SCHULZE (San Antonio, TX), a Freshman from Brown University, was voted GEC Newcomer of the Week on February 22nd, 2022. Schulze earned a career high 9.8 on bars, and a team high for the day 9.775 on beam. This top score lead the Bears to a season high team score on balance beam. Both Taylor’s 9.8 on bars and 9.775 on beam were good for 3rd place.
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK - ARIYANA AGARWALA (Edison, NJ), a Junior from Penn, was voted GEC Newcomer of the Week on February 22nd, 2022. After missing out on competition due to injury her freshman year, and the pandemic her sophomore year, Ariyana earned her way into the lineup with her 10.0 SV vault for her debut season. She earned the team’s highest score of the day which tied the 2nd highest individual vault score in program history. Her contribution also led the way to the highest team vault score in program history with a 49.175.
PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK - MCCALEIGH MARR (Newtown Square, PA), a Junior from Penn was voted GEC Performance of the Week on February 22nd, 2022 for the second week in a row. McCaleigh hit two solid routines, earning the highest scores of the day on bars and beam with a 9.775 and 9.875 respectively. Both performances were good for 1st place. Her performances helped contribute to the highest home team score in Penn program history with a 194.775.
︎︎︎︎GYMNAST OF THE WEEK - LINDSAY CHIA (Coquotlam, B.C., Canada), a Senior from Yale, was voted GEC Gymnast of the Week on February 22nd, 2022. ︎︎Despite being a senior, this is Chia’s first year as an All-Around competitor for the Bulldogs. She capitalized on this opportunity with an impressive career high 39.1 all-around score. She was a standout for Yale this past weekend, earning first place finishes on the beam and in the all- around. Chia posted above a 9.7 on all four events, including a 9.775 on vault, 9.75 on bars, 9.85 on beam, and 9.725 on floor.
