NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK - JULIA BEDELL (Haverhill, MA), a Freshman from Brown University, was voted GEC Newcomer of the Week on February 8th, 2022. Bedell competed and hit three events for the Bears this past weekend. She earned Brown’s top floor score of a 9.825, placing 3rd on the event against WCU, UB, and SUNY Cortland. Julia also earned a 9.75 on vault, placing 2nd, and a 9.675 on the beam. Her performance helped lead the Brown Bears to a season high score of 192.875.
PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK - MEI LI COSTA (Lawrenceville, NJ), a Senior from Brown University was voted GEC Performance of the Week on February 8th, 2022. Mei Li set a new school record of a 9.925 with her stellar performance on the uneven bars. Her near flawless routine won her first place and helped her team to a new season high score of 192.875. She also earned an impressive 9.8 on the vault, which was also the top score of the meet.
GYMNAST OF THE WEEK - SYDNEY KRAEZ (Longmeadow, MA), a Senior from Penn, was voted GEC Gymnast of the Week on February 8th, 2022. Sydney earned a career high All Around score this past weekend in her first time competing all four events this season. She earned a career high on bars, placing 2nd with a 9.85, and tied her personal best on beam with a 9.75, which was also good for 2nd place. Kraez placed 1st on vault with a 9.8, floor with a 9.775, and all around with her career high 39.175.
