Gymnast of the Week: Abby Kenney (Bridgeport)

Senior, Abby Kenney (Brick, N.J.) had a fantastic meet on Saturday against Brown, LIU, and Springfield, tying her career-high all-around score with a 39.150 while posting her highest beam and floor scores of the season. Kenney led Bridgeport as the team’s top scorer on bars (9.775), beam (9.775), and floor (9.825), while also adding a 9.775 on vault. Her all-around performance helped lead the Purple Knights to their highest team score since 2024. Kenney continues to be a consistent and impactful presence in Bridgeport’s lineups each week. 

Specialist of the Week: Nova Staruk (Bridgeport)

Junior, Nova Staruk (West Boylston, Mass.) delivered big performances for the Purple Knights on Saturday, earning the top vault score of the meet with a 9.850, competing a very impressive Kasamatsu layout full. She also posted a career-high 9.825 on floor, opening her routine with a powerful full-in. Staruk led Bridgeport with the top scores on both vault and floor and continues to show steady improvement week to week, a direct reflection of her hard work and consistency in practice.

Newcomer of the Week: Gianna Smith (WCU)

First-Year, Gianna Smith (Pittsburgh, Pa.) continued her impressive rise with another breakout performance, setting career highs on vault (9.625), uneven bars (9.625), floor (9.675), and in the all-around (38.625). As the meet’s lone all-around competitor, Smith placed second on both bars and floor and finished third on beam with a 9.700. Her performances helped lead West Chester to a season-high team score. Smith continues to prove herself as a valuable asset to the Golden Rams.
