Gymnast of the Week: Marissa Lassiter (Penn)
Marissa Lassiter has been named Gymnastics East Conference Gymnast of the Week after an outstanding performance that included setting new career-bests with a 9.850 on vault and a 39.025 in the all-around. Marissa earned two top-five finishes—placing 3rd on vault with a 9.850 and tying for 4th on bars with a 9.750. She also secured a top-10 finish on floor, tying for 8th with a 9.825. Leading the Quakers on vault, floor, and all-around this week, Marissa's impressive scores and versatility across multiple events are establishing her as a staple in Penn’s lineups again this season.
Specialist of the Week: Lily McFarland (WCU)
Lily McFarland has been named Gymnastics East Conference Specialist of the Week after an impressive 4/4 performance during a double meet week. A 5th-year graduate student, Lily continues to be a strong leader and one of the team’s top scorers on beam and floor. At Centenary College on Monday, January 20th, she posted a 9.725 on balance beam, placing 5th, and a 9.75 on floor exercise, tying for 2nd. Later in the week, on Saturday, January 25th, at Bridgeport, Lily once again showcased her skill, tying for 2nd on balance beam with a 9.7 and finishing 5th on floor, tying her season high with a 9.75. Her consistency and leadership are proving invaluable to the team again this year.
Newcomer of the Week: Manama Fofana (Penn)
Manama Fofana has been named Gymnastics East Conference Newcomer of the Week after an outstanding performance that included setting new career-best scores on both vault and floor. Fofana posted a career-high 9.825 on vault, earning a tie for 4th place, and matched that score on floor exercise, tying for 8th. Not only did she secure a top-five finish on vault, but she also led all Penn gymnasts on the floor exercise. With standout performances in her first few meets, the first-year is already making a major impact on the team.
