GEC Week 3 Awards



NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK - KATE MICHELINI (Ardsley, NY), a Freshman from Cornell, was voted GEC Newcomer of the Week on January 25th, 2022. For the second week in a row, freshman Kate Michelini hit three for three routines. This weekend she posted Cornell’s high score on bars with a 9.825, placing first against West Chester. Michelini also recorded the team's second highest score on beam with a 9.625, and highest score on floor with a 9.85 which tied her for first place. Her bars and floor scores put her into Cornell’s top 10, all time scores on those two events.


PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK - RAEGAN WALKER (Temecula, CA), a Junior from Yale was voted GEC Performance of the Week on January 25th, 2022. Walker had standout routines on all three events she competed. She posted a 9.775 on the bars, and career high scores on vault and beam with a 9.8 and 9.9 respectively, which were both good for first place. Raegan posted the highest score in the GEC so far this year, which is impressive as it is her first year competing beam for the Bulldogs.


􏰛􏰋􏰡􏰥GYMNAST OF THE WEEK - SYDNEY KRAEZ (Longmeadow, MA), a Senior from Penn, was voted GEC Gymnast of the Week on January 25th, 2022. Sydney led the young Penn team and vault squad through another record setting weekend. Sydney's 9.8 performance helped the vault team hit the highest event score in program history with a 48.9. She was the lone senior in the line up with three freshmen and two sophomores by her side. Sydney also contributed to a season high floor score with a 9.775, and Penn’s final team total of a 194.875 - the third highest score in Penn program history. She also contributed a 9.7 on the bars.
