NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK - CAROLINE BLATCHFORD (Wenham, MA), a Freshman from William & Mary, was voted GEC Newcomer of the Week on January 18th, 2022. Caroline competed in the all-around in both meets of The Tribe’s opening weekend. She showed great consistency, hitting all 8 routines of the weekend, scoring a 38.45 on Friday, and a 38.5 on Sunday. All of her scores counted William & Mary’s team total. Coach Kelsey Hinton states that, "Caroline is our most consistent athlete and had a great showing her 1st time out on the competition floor.”
PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK - NATALIE YANG (San Mateo, CA), a Senior from Penn was voted GEC Performance of the Week on January 18th, 2022. Natalie matched her career high under pressure, helping the beam team to a 48.95. She won the event in the Quaker's quad meet against GW, Cornell and William & Mary with a 9.875, and helped Penn win as a team with a 194.925, the second highest team score in program history.
GYMNAST OF THE WEEK - SARA KENEFICK (Charlotte, NC), a Sophomore from Penn, was voted GEC Gymnast of the Week on January 18th, 2022. Sara hit all three of her events in just the second meet of her career and helped the Quakers to a big win with a 194.925, which is the second highest team score in program history. She was a member of the bars line up that entered the record book with a 48.9 and the 4th highest bars score in the record book as well. All three of her scores showed improvement over her first meet last weekend.
